I love Bannack. I have since that first visit on the way home from antelope hunting when I was a kid. It was the 'cool kind of creepy' that has kept me searching out ghost towns ever since. My two most prominent memories from that first visit were a) the gallows ("Seriously? They HUNG people from this?!"), and b) a photo I took of my Grandma and Grandpa O. smiling behind bars in the prison. It's been 30 years but I finally got to visit Bannack again during our latest trip to Montana in June. I enjoyed every minute of the six hours we spent there (yes, SIX.... not the 2 or 3 we had expected....). The following photos are my favorites of the family and the link at the end contains my scenic photos. Come enjoy a visit to Bannack with us!

Sven behind the bar at the Skinner Saloon. There were some crazy stories from this place. |

The kids mining for gold. |

Nik taking Em off to prison..... the prison that has the clear view of the gallows from within. |
|
We should have left them there and went on a date..... hahaha.... JUST KIDDING! |
|
Or maybe we should have locked ourselves inside instead! |

I loved watching our kids play on the playground equipment in front of the schoolhouse.
Proof that fun is timeless. |
Now this series is comical. As you know, Nik is all about fishing
all the time. Weren't we in luck that because it was Father's Day, the fishing license requirement was waived (sounds fishy to me....lol.....)? Nik talked us into letting him fish 'just a little bit' while we had a picnic lunch. Well, he got one.... or one got him.... and this is the scene that played out......
It's a wonder that they all didn't end up in the drink! But, they were able to land the fish and release him safely back. Nik never smiles like he does when he has a fish in his hands! I think it's fair to say that we all enjoyed our time in Bannack!
