2-7, Deer at Door

We decided to switch it up today. Normally on Saturdays, I head into Denver to take Emalie to her Chinese class and Sven heads into Parker to take Nikolas to his karate class.  It's been a really backwards week (subzero temps, multiple school delays, Sven's truck had to be towed on his way to work, etc, etc), so we decided to continue the theme through the weekend.  So, long story short, Sven got to go to Em's Chinese class today.  As he and Emalie headed downstairs and opened up the door, I heard "Well, hello there lady...".  My first thought was, 'who comes knocking at our door this early on a Saturday?'  Then he said, "Hon, you have got to see this!".  I opened up the door to the basement and saw this wonderful scene.  The deer was literally at our doorstep licking up the salt Sven had just put down on the ice.  (Between the new roof, new gutters and new driveway, we have some serious water-drainage kinks we need to work out this summer.  The cold snap last week froze all the water in the gutters and our driveway has been an ice rink.  We were warned against putting salt on the new driveway but decided to put it on the already-old step by the door.)  Anyway, that was pretty neat to see this morning.  (What wasn't so neat, was the week before last when one of them lay dead on the edge of our property.  That was quite sad.  Though I've been exposed to hunting all of my life, it's different with our "Pinery Pets".)  OK, so erase that story and enjoy this adorable moment:

2-7, Em's ABC's

It's been a long time since I've had to sing the ABC's to demonstrate the proper length of time a (little) person should wash their hands.  Alas, that time has come again.  I have to say, Emalie is a quick learner!  I only started doing that just this week and look at how much she has learned already!  I love this video.....
