6-18, Pittsburgh Weekend

It had been almost a year since we had visited Pittsburgh.  What better opportunity than Father's Day weekend?  We had a great weekend with Dad and Mary Jo.  We played, we lounged, we visited and we cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Thanks Dad and Mary Jo for such a fun weekend!!

Dad, Nikolas and Mary Jo

Nikolas and Pap-pap

Pap-pap and Nikolas at Pittsburgh's infamous Eat N Park (I have no idea where the ' goes!)

I love this photo.  It had been 5 years since the last group photo covering the generations.  Shown here are Wilbur and Marie (Dad's parents), Dad, Sven and Nikolas.

Playing ball 'city style'....in an alley!

Doesn't Mary Jo remind you of the lady in the 80s show "227" who would look out her window and watch the street below?!  =)

Watching it rain....the thunderstorm that came out of nowhere!

Making our way to the Pirates game.

The 6th Street Bridge enroute to the park.

You'd think they'd cheer "Let's go Pirates!"...but they don't.  Instead, they chant "Let's go Bucs!"

Neil Walker is a first-year player for the Pirates.  We had a great time cheering him on seeing as how he used to be Dad and Sven's neighbor back in Gibsonia!!  Not too often you personally know a player in the Majors!

This guy was playing his heart out.

What a great view of Pittsburgh!

And then, it was time to go home.  We left Pittsburgh at 5:30 and didn't make it home until 11' that night.  What a long day it was (and no, the drive should NOT have been that long!).  We were up bright and early the next day (5' to be exact...) to send Sven off on his early flight to Denver and Nikolas off to his first day of baseball camp.  But, a little loss of sleep was well worth the weekend we had.  Thanks again!

6-13, National Arboretum

Since our time in the DC/Baltimore area is winding down, we figured we'd better get sightseeing. We'd driven by the National Arboretum in DC a hundred times going to other attractions but never stopped.  We decided to make the Arboretum our destination.  It was insanely hot and Nikolas went from the sniffles to a full-blown cold within hours, so this day wasn't one of our best outtings.  It was neat and I enjoyed taking pictures (of course).  I'll post the best ones to my website in the flowers album.
