It's about that time of year again. Time to get out of the house and explore. I saw some photos from a friend's FB page and was intrigued to go there myself. Only half an hour south from us, lies Spruce Mountain Open Space with miles of trails. It was a chilly spring day, but the sun was out and so, finally, were we! We walked about 4.2 miles, and little Em even walked close to 4 by herself. It was treacherous....not the hike but waiting for a 3 year old to meander 4 miles! All that fresh air made it really hard to get out of bed this morning. Nik is back to school today after a week off for spring break. It was even harder to pull him from bed that it was to get myself out of it. I'm curious as to what condition Emalie will be in after all that exercise. She still has one more week of spring break, and daily swimming to attend. Anyway, with lots of trails and miles to hike in Colorado, we'd better start building ourselves up for them!
We didn't pass just hikers. At one point, Emalie exclaimed (much to our dismay but true and funny as well), "Crap all around!!" Yep, gotta watch out for them horse apples......
