7-21, Bingham Lake, CO

It's no secret, we are loving Colorado.  The weather, the people, the mountains, the wildlife, the serenity.....all of it (remind me to reevaluate how I feel about the weather when it's below zero and there's 3' of snow on the ground.....).  Our community is a little farther from Sven's work than would be ideal (about 45 minutes), but we love this part of the Denver area......the part with actual trees.  Our neighborhood contains several areas of county open space with trails.  We have a small lake just a few minutes from our house.  Come, take a walk with me through the Pinery!

I think Nikolas has caught one fish so far.  The lake is even stocked (but their fishing luck must not be!).  Their enthusiasm is overly evident in this photo!

Come visit us, we'd love to have you!

8-21, In Memory of Grandma G.

Friday was a difficult day for me.  It was the day of my Grandma's funeral and I was 1,000 miles away from my family and unable to attend the service.  I sought the advice of friends and asked them for any ideas on how to spend this day honoring my grandmother.  I received some wonderful ideas and incorporated them into my day.  Here's what I did:  I lit a candle and read my grandma's life history that my aunt read at the service- it even included some of my own words.  I went and bought a beautiful begonia to care for that my grandma would have loved.  We went to a Mexican restaurant at lunch - I don't know if Grandma loved Mexican half as much as we took her to eat it, but it only seemed appropriate.  I donned her pretty pink apron and attempted to make her special cinnamon rolls-  they weren't half as good as her but it was therapeutic nonetheless.  I sat out on our deck watching the fawns graze in our grass and read uplifting spiritual stories from Guideposts.  Lastly, I created this slideshow from photos of Grandma over the past few years.  Love you, Grandma.

To my family:  If you'd like a CD of this slideshow, please let me know and I'll mail you one.
