6-29, National Zoo

We took a family trip to the zoo in DC. It was the 2nd time for Nikolas and me (the first being a kindergarten field trip) and the 1st for Sven. It's a wonderful zoo. It's a great way to spend the day-- even better since entry is free! If you've seen one zoo photo, you've seen them all but it still doesn't stop the allure of photographing the animals!

7-9, Frog Fest

WHO KNEW that frogs could bring so many hours of endless entertainment for kids?! I didn't. It was a riot watching anywhere from 2 to 10 kids spend all day running around the neighborhood collecting frogs and then "keeping" them in Nikolas' empty sand table. How creative is that? There had to have been no less than 20 little frogs and 2 toads in it all day.

7-4, Visit from the Roses

We were very happy to have our first weekend guests over the 4th of July holiday. Dad and Mary Jo drove over from Pittsburgh to celebrate the holiday with us. The weather definitely wasn't very agreeable or predictable, but we dodged the rain Friday to enjoy "Meadefest"-- a nice, little festival for the kids. The fireworks show didn't work out as planned, but we were able to see it from Nikolas' room. Saturday, we went to the Baltimore Aquarium. It had a very unusual layout, but Nikolas and I could have spent the entire day watching the dolphins swim. As always, time goes too fast when it comes to say goodbye!
