As I sat down to work through my Christmas photos, I realized I haven't yet gone through all of my phone pics. So, this blog is my catch-up post containing a few months of various pics from my phone. Here's a glimpse of my everyday life.
Prior to the weather turning frigid (and snowy!), I loved getting up early on weekend mornings and taking my 'Sunrise Walk'. I take the same path up a dirt road headed straight into the sunrise. If I timed it right, I could see the sunrise colors explode as I walked east and see the reflecting colors off the foothills when I turned down the hill toward the west. I love those walks. They're a great energizer for the soul on busy weekend days. My comfort zone ends when the temps fall below 30 degrees. I've really been missing those walks these past few weeks! The following three photos are from some of my walks.
I took this photo out of our front living room window during one sunset. The mountains are the small purple area between the tree line.
As the weather began to change, so did our surroundings. The Canadian Geese have taken over Nik's fishing lake. This day, I think there were hundreds out there. It was pretty amazing...and loud....when they all took flight.
The geese felt the change in temps, and so did we. Emalie donned her Cabela's pink camo fleece all ready for her morning at preschool.
We'd heard stories about the previous owners of our house having foxes lounging on the back deck, but we'd never seen any in the backyard since we've lived here....until this day. Do you see him sleeping under our pine tree by the bird feeder? We've seen him there again since we took this photo. One day, he even came closer--right to the edge of the deck. The little guy is getting braver...and our little bunny is missing his days in his outside cage!
So we have the fox action taking place in the backyard, this is what's going on in the front yard. Nice buck!
Here Sven and I are prior to heading out for his work Christmas party. That was about as exciting as it got.
Finally, finally, finally, we enrolled Emalie in swimming lessons. I think she was beginning to wonder if swimming pools only exist in China! She loves to play in water, and she took to her first lesson like a fish. She was not at all shy. She went as far as to continuously splash the boy next to her whenever the instructor was looking the other way! When it came time to jump in from the side, she went all the way under, bobbed right up and didn't flinch.
Nik continues to practice karate. He's not far from his Candidate Black Belt. His interest ebbs and flows given on what else he has going on, but we continue to urge his participation. There's no quitting this close to his black belt!
Our Saturday mornings are busy: Nik has karate from 11-12, and Em has swim lessons nearby from 11-11:30. We try not to be like so many families who run themselves ragged with kids' activities, but we do support 1-2 activities each for self-enrichment. We try not to bite off more than we can chew.... usually!
