We had a great Labor Day weekend. We planned to meet fellow Kings Pointer (and Sven's roommate during the KP years) Rob McDermott in DC to watch Kings Point play Gallaudet University. It was our first chance to see Rob since April 2008 and the first time we met his new bride (of one year), Laura. It was so much fun to see Rob and meet Laura. Kings Point stories were running rampant! They spent the night with us after the game and at home we had the fun of referencing our year books to supplement our stories. It was a "hoot".
But back to the game..... during the last 5 minutes when I was walking around with Nikolas, I heard someone call my name. I looked, stared and wasn't sure how to respond. Then he said, "Scoey!". I couldn't believe my eyes-- it was a fellow classmate of ours and a friend/coworker from my ISC days in New Orleans. I hadn't seen him in at least 11 years. (Did I mention that somehow he has aged in reverse and that's why I didn't recognize him?). While we've bounced around the country doing the Navy thing, he has bounced from coast to coast with APL. We had a great time chatting about the ol' days (notice I didn't necessarily include the 'good'!) of KP and catching up on the here and now. We were sorry we didn't run into each other earlier in the game, as we were all heading our own ways since it was over. But, a chance meeting with old friends is always a blessing. And I guess it's true.... life (after KP) does go on....we had the kiddoes running around to prove it! =)
