10-1, Quinlan's Visit

October wouldn't be complete at the Krauss Haus without an annual visit from our friends Pat and Michelle.  Each October they drive from Minnesota to New Mexico to participate in the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.  Finally, a scenario where Denver is actually on the way to somewhere else!  It's so awesome that they take the time to stop and see us.  It's so fun catching up with them.  And, the kids love, love, love them, too.  Short and sweet, but always special.  Thanks, guys, for stopping....and maybe we'll see you next week!

Just about the only time Nik has asked "does anyone want to play Monopoly?" and the answer was yes!

Emalie and Pat-- two jokesters!

Emalie loves that Michelle will sit and read with her.....

..... and play games with her, too!

A photo of everyone before they pull up anchor....

Emalie has somehow persuaded Pat to give her money.....
not sure how that came about.  LOL.....

Trying to get a simple smile from these two is a difficult task!
What fun they are!

Em may be smiling, but she's none too happy that Pat and Michelle are leaving!

Enjoy the Balloon Fiesta, Pat and Michelle!
We look forward to seeing you again soon!

10-2, So exciting.....

Ok, so maybe it won't be "so exciting" for all of you, but it surely was for us.  After living on other people's pet stains for 4.5 years, we finally tackled refinishing our hardwood floors and lacing in new wood to replace the badly stained carpet in our family room.  It's such a good feeling to know that little by little we are eliminating other people's filth.  I know that's blunt, but it is what it is.  We take pride in keeping our home clean so it's unsettling to know that you're living with the result of other people not caring for it the same as we do.  So, yes, exciting, I say!  We had planned on doing this renovation earlier in the year, but held off while we decided whether to lay out the expenses for it when we're unsure of how long we'll be in this house.  After talking with our realtor though, the decision was made easy.  Just do it.  Whether we enjoy it or it will help us sell our house in the spring, just do it.  So, we did and I haven't doubted we made the right decision.  It looks wonderful and feels even better knowing our house is one step above what it used to be.  Sadly, most of you who read my blog don't get the opportunity to visit us, so I'll share it with you here.  But, please, come visit us if you can!
