We had such a nice Father's Day weekend. Well, I did, ha-- I think the 'dad' in the family did as well! We headed to one of our favorite campgrounds that we haven't been to in 8 or so years (our first real camping excursion in Colorado). It's the first time we've been to this campground since before Emalie joined our family. (It took me a long time to get comfortable with the idea of bringing a baby/toddler/small child to a campground that basically sits on the edge of a cliff with a raging river below.) It was nice to see how much Emalie enjoyed this campground as well. She had plenty of rocks to climb in and around our immediate campsite, so my mind was at ease with regards to her safety. The last time we spent a weekend here, Nik wasn't too much older than she is now. So much has changed since then. This trip he was off on his own, up and down the banks of the river, with his fishing pole. This place is one of those places where you close your eyes, take a deep breath and smile. It's SO amazing that even when I'm not there I can still close my eyes, see it in my mind (with the smell of the pine and the sound of the river) and smile. So, as you can see from the title of this post, I've renamed our favorite campground. 'Heck Yeah'-- I can't wait to return!

For those of you with young children, you'll appreciate that this is Emalie on top of "Pride Rock" (Lion King, anyone?). |

Nik doing what he does best. This kid has some serious fishing skills. |

Father's Day at a distillery in town? What kind of camping trip is this? (Answer: THE BEST!) |
|
Look what Emalie caught ALL BY HERSELF!! |
|
I don't see this too much anymore, but it makes me happy whenever I do! |

A panoramic from our 'hike' on the bank of the Arkansas River. |

Nik in his element... like totally in his element. |

The kayakers assessing the rapids. |

Lol.... the kayaks.... |

Remember "Where's Waldo?". Our version, "Where's Nash?" (our trailer) |

I think they're nuts. Just saying.... |

Cactus in Colorado. It took me awhile to get used to that concept. |
|
This picture cracks me up. Almost like an optical illusion. |

When Emalie wasn't on 'Pride Rock,' I was. I loved to watch the caravan of rafters pass by at noon and 5' . |
Hope all of you fathers out there had a great Father's Day. Sorry I couldn't spend it with my own dad, but I'm happy knowing I'll be seeing him in a few weeks!
