9-7, Bucks in yard

We get lots of does and fawns in our yard, but this is the first time I'd seen the bucks.  I had no time to get my 'big camera' and I had to take these photos through the window.  Once I opened the door, they were gone!  Oh, but how impressive they were!!

8-26, Peaches and Friends

I received a wonderful and spontaneous call from my best friend (since forever) Heather one Saturday morning.  She wanted to know if I had the time for us to get together.  Since moving to Denver, there's never as much time as you'd think for the things you want to do.  So, "absolutely!  Why don't you come over?......I just bought 2- 40 pound boxes of peaches....." Ha Ha Ha!  YOU KNOW who your true friends are when they're willing to sacrifice their Saturday afternoon peeling and cutting peaches with you!!  We had a great time talking and reminiscing and just catching-up.  And, I'm pretty sure if Heather hadn't been with us there's no way Nikolas would have withstood 2 hours of such a mundane task.  In all fairness, we didn't only cut peaches.  We enjoyed a nice browse through the local park where the town was hosting an Art Walk.  Simply lovely.  Thanks, Heather!!

8-26, Carl Lewis

Nikolas' school had a pep rally featuring none other than the legendary, Olympic gold medal winner Carl Lewis.  It was so much fun to see the excitement in the kids' (and parents!) eyes.  He gave a great, motivating talk and everyone was thoroughly captivated with the event.  Here are a few, far, point and shoot shots from that afternoon.

Carl Lewis with his niece who attends Nikolas' school.  In fact, his niece has the same teacher as Nikolas did last year.
He must love that little girl a lot to fly all the way from NJ to CO to speak at her school!

8-14, Brad and Family

After many months of good intentions, good friends were finally reunited.  I've known Brad since I was....hmm.....little, really little.  We went to school together in Corvallis.  Our families were good friends and we spent many weekends and family vacations together, whether it was having dinner, playing cards or fishing in Canada.  Brad, his brother, me, my brother- we all grew up together in true Montana fashion.  I hadn't seen him for at least 17 years (or so).  It was so fantastic to be able to have him and his family over to our house now that we live within half an hour of each other.  It was SO GREAT to see Brad again and to meet his wonderful family.  It was just like old times....with the addition of the spouses and kids!!  We look forward to many more family dinners together, and if we're lucky, camping trips to recreate our childhood experiences for our kids!

9-1, Abby

Something tells me this little girl misses Nikolas while he's away at school.....
