2-6, Snowfall

As I mentioned in a recent post, it's been very dry here in Colorado this winter.  Last night while driving the kids home from an appointment, the most amazing thing happened-- R-A-I-N!  Yes, itsy-bitsy droplets of water fell from the sky.  I really can only remember a handful of times that's happened since moving here two years ago.  After living in Puget Sound, I really couldn't have cared less if I ever saw rain again.....that is, until we moved to Colorado.  So, sometime between driving home at 6' and getting the kids to bed at 8', the rain turned to snow.  I looked out the window at 8:30 and couldn't believe the ground was already covered.  The big, peaceful flakes were falling steadily and it was quite beautiful.  Today, we awoke to an 'almost' winter wonderland.  When the winter is more brown than white, you really appreciate mornings like this.

The view out our 2nd floor front door.

This is the cottonwood tree in the back corner of our yard.  Sven says the tree needs to come down (purposely and not wind-driven....), but I love this tree.  In the spring the birds collect on its branches and chirp the prettiest songs, in the fall the winds create melodies with the leaves, and in the winter it's a beautiful ice statue.

We recently "remodeled" my office-- nothing much-- moved the furniture around, installed new lighting, added new curtains and a few other accessories.  My office went to the 'dark place I don't like to spend my time' to the 'I want to hibernate in there because I like it so much' space.  Considering it's the 'command central' of our household operation and my creative outlets, it is important to me.  Now, I love, love, love my office.  It's especially pretty today with the bouquet of tulips my boys got for me this weekend in the foreground and the winter wonderland in the background.  Who wouldn't to work in here?  (And it sure beats shoveling the driveway....ha ha ha!)

2-4, "Aaahh-nnn"

Emalie's vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds. Ok, so the words may not be decipherable to anyone but us, but for the most part we clearly understand her.  For instance, "Aaahh-nnn" is "Abby" (the cat).  Lately, Emalie's trying to say "Meow" which has been coming out more like "Neooww".  I tried to catch it on video but the more videos I captured the more she altered the way she usually says it.  Still, cute anyway you cut it!
