8-31, Annapolis

We were happy to get the chance to spend another day with Dad, Mary Jo and Breen. We took them to Annapolis since they had never been there. It was a beautiful day, still very hot though. We seem to already have our favorite routine down: park at the academy, have lunch from the deli and eat it in the park, stroll around the town and then walk around the academy.

Can you believe the size of this boat??? There were SO many boats out in the harbor....I guess you couldn't expect anything less of a beautiful Labor Day weekend.

These are familiar words......

We were able to go into the administrative hall at the academy. The walls are adorned with Naval memorabilia and murals. This plaque was of particular interest as my maiden name is Osburn....yet I had never seen it spelled with a "z". The flag was flown on the destroyer during the Korean War and given to the academy by a 1938 Naval Academy grad.

You never know what you're going to find on the campus of a military academy. We presume this was a plebe spirit mission.

Pretty nice quarters for the Superintendent!

The inside of the academy chapel is breathtakingly beautiful.

And then the crowd made it home again....hot and tired but still wearing smiles!

8-30, Pig Roast

All summer we've been looking forward to Jeff's annual pig roast. (Jeff is Mary Jo's brother who lives about half an hour away from us in rural MD.) The big day was yesterday. I think he said the pig was 175 pounds! He'd been up since 6' getting everything ready. It was quite a sight. There had to have been over a 100 people there and there was still half the pig left at the end of the night! (We were among the lucky ones to go home with leftovers....) It was quite nummy and a good day.

Sven was quite intrigued with the pig on the grill....me....not so much!

Nikolas took this picture......!

The boys were hard at work pulling pork....for hours!

Molly was one HAPPY DOG after all was said and done!

The neighbors had a beautiful foal. We got to pet her quite a bit until Molly chased her away! Pictured below from left to right is Sven's dad from Pittsburgh, Mary Jo's daughter Breen and Sven.

Beautiful, huh?!

8-13, Nikolas and Cadi

Nikolas and Cadi.....we don't get too many shots like this!

8-29, Homeless never felt so good!

Sven and I are happy to declare ourselves officially HOMELESS! The sale of our house in Silverdale was finalized on Friday. What a feeling! 10 months on the market and a boatload of stress, we are now finally free! Now are minds can join our bodies in our new life here in Maryland. We can't say there are too many memories we'll miss from that house, but there are a few good ones. If anyone needs a realtor in Kitsap County, WA, we can only speak of wonderful things about Donny Reece of John L. Scott. Really, truly, I can't tell you how highly we think of him and his service. If you need a reference, give us a call!
