5-12, Heather's Graduation

I have a friend.  A best friend.  A life-long best friend.  Her name is Heather Taylor.  We've known each other since the second grade at Corvallis Elementary.  I have a photo of us standing on the front steps of the school in our class picture.  She's the one with the long, brown hair, bangs to frame her face.  I'm the one with the long, blonde hair worn in high piggy tails and, of course, the bangs.  To save us both some embarrassment, I won't be posting that picture here.  But I am looking at it and chuckling-- boy have we come a long way since those days.  I'm not sure how many times Heather's family moved since they left Montana just prior to our freshman year in high school (I'm still scarred by that, by the way....), but it was a lot.  It's incredible how we've remained in contact over all those years....high school, college, jobs, marriages, moves, kid(s).  Simply incredible.  We've had the good fortune to live near each other twice in our adult lives- once up in Seattle and now here in Denver.  She was there when Nikolas joined our family and she'll be here when 'sister' joins our family.  I won't even get into the losses we've endured as well.  Simply put, we were just made to be friends.  She knows me like no one else and fits right in with our family and my other best friend (Sven =)....).  She's been there so much for me over the years.  It was a privilege for me (well, us) to be there for her on Saturday when she graduated with her Certificate of Completion from Denver Seminary.  Her faith has always been the foundation of her life and it has been very rewarding for me to be able to follow along with her on this path.  Congratulations, Heather, I know you put your heart and soul into this endeavor.  I (we) are so proud of you!!
