2-8, DC Bike Ride

Sunday was another one of those..."what do you want to do?" days. After lunch, since it was another BEAUTIFUL day, we headed down to DC for our first bike outting there. We had so much fun. We first rode our bikes around this park out on a spit and then we headed into the mall area in search of snacks. =) (There's just something about DC and those street vendors....)

Here we are in front of the Jefferson Memorial. It was the first time we'd seen this monument up close and personal.

Standing in the same spot and turning behind us was this spectacular view of the Washington Monument.

Wherever you go in DC, it seems as if the Washington Monument is in the middle of it all. It's a powerful presence as it towers above the city.

Our little boy may be getting older, but he still loves to throw rocks!

And so ends our beautiful biking day in DC!

2-7, Frederick, MD

Sven and I are the rulers of indecision. =) We couldn't figure out what we wanted to do this weekend, but we knew we wanted to do something new and outdoors. So, by 10 AM we finally decided we would drive out to Frederick, MD, taking the backroads through the country. It was a beautiful drive.. and yes, there is country in MD, unfortunately just not where we live. We love seeing the farms (ie, cows) and the slower way of life. What is odd about this area is that right next to a farm is a million dollar mansion. It's very strange. BUT...it makes for an interesting drive! Frederick is a very quaint town. It was about an hour and a half away taking the scenic route and an hour or so via the interestate. We had a great lunch at a local brewery and Sven was quite happy with his beer selection. We had lunch, a stroll around town, a Starbucks and then took a self-guided tour of three old, covered bridges in the area. And, the temps reached nearly 70 degrees that day!! It was beautiful, indeed!

This mural was on the side of a building in Frederick. How fantastic is that?!

the covered bridges.....

2-6, Tooth be gone!

Boy, we knew that tooth wouldn't hang in there much longer! I picked up Nikolas from school on Friday and at a glance I thought his expression was 'funny'. He opened up his mouth, the tooth was gone and he said it had fallen out on his desk during math! Too funny. He was SO proud! Then there was the nostalgic mommy moment....'my little boy lost his first tooth...!'
