2-2, Steeler's Cheerleader
Our friends the Sepps (you may remember Arvo as the best man at our wedding and one of my best friends from the academy) are moving again. Amy was cleaning out closets in preparation for the move and came across their little girl's outgrown Steeler's cheerleader outfit. We were MORE than happy to accept this hand-me-down for Emalie. I'm not sure which member of the family is more excited about it. The Steelers may not have made it to the Superbowl, but they'll always be #1 in this house! (Thanks, Amy!!)
1-30, Foxy Lady
So wrong, but so funny. Thursday afternoon when Emalie and I were watching Nikolas walk up the street from the school bus, we saw the strangest thing. There were two foxes running around in circles chasing each other across lawns and the street. At one point, one of the foxes ran straight toward the group of kids. I was yelling out the window for Nikolas to 'leave it alone' and another dad was shouting the same thing as he was walking towards them. It was crazy. It was like the foxes were on speed. After Nikolas came into the house, I looked out a side window and saw a fox running up the neighbor's driveway and around the side of his house. Bizarre.
Anyway, that's the background that leads up to these photos. We had foxes on the brain. Nikolas had been wearing his hat and was putting it away in the coat closet (actually, this whole blog post should be devoted to how HAPPY I was that he was putting something...anything...away!!). Emalie was getting upset because she wanted his hat. As a substitute, he handed her this faux-fur zip-off hood for his jacket. She looked at him like "What am I supposed to do with this?". He was trying to put it on her but failing. I laughed and said, "You should stick in her pants like a tail!" HA HA HA. Yes, so I was an accomplice. I could have pretended that this was all Nik's idea-- that darn integrity thing. LOL. Anyway, Emalie thought it was great and strutted around the house for a good half hour wearing her 'tail'. Yep, our little 'foxy lady'!
1-28, Emalie's snow day
It's been a pretty dry winter so far. We have yet to go play in the snow or partake in other fun winter activities. This last week we got a little bit of snow on Monday and a little more on Tuesday. The non-cold-weather-lover that I am, felt obligated to at least get Emalie out in the snow a bit so she could experience it (aside from my previous attempts to shovel the driveway with her out there with me). We don't know if she's ever seen it or played in it before. Judging from her reaction to first stepping in the snow and seeing her boots turn white, I'm thinking she hasn't-- or if she has she doesn't remember. She was pretty irritated that the stuff was sticking to her boots! But, she got over it pretty quickly and was enthralled with stomping around the backyard and watching her feet.
I'm thinking she's getting a little tired...! |
