Sometimes the best laid plans are the ones that get side-railed. That's what happened to our Thanksgiving. Last year we spent Thanksgiving alone and this year we didn't want a repeat of the small Thanksgiving table. We invited our friends from across the street to spend Thanksgiving with us. We were all so excited and we had the menu pegged down to the last pie. The week before Thanksgiving, Emalie got quite sick with a high temperature. In the next few days, our friends' kids got the flu. Fast-forward a few days and the mom got the flu. Fast forward two more days and the Krauss family is again sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner alone. Nope, not like we had planned at all! We already had all the groceries for a big dinner, so Sven cooked as planned and we delivered the dinner to their doorstep. I'm sure the day didn't turn out as planned for our friends either! My poor friend couldn't get out of bed and is probably the only person I know how lost weight over Thanksgiving!! We had a quiet day-- just the four of us. But, that's even better than last year when it was just the three of us! As we went around the table saying what we were thankful for, it was unanimous-- we are thankful for Emalie joining our family. We couldn't love and cherish her more. The ironic part, as we were all acknowledging our blessing, is that she was upstairs sleeping! Dinner was ready early and we didn't want to wake her, so we saved it for her-- and she didn't try one bite! Maybe next year.......
